Charlie Hammond is a Sheffield-based performer, facilitator, and clown with over 10 years of experience in street theatre, cabaret, circus, and devised performance. Blending humour with heart, his work explores our deep need for connection.
For the past eight years, he’s brought laughter and presence to children in hospitals as a Giggle Doctor with Theodora Children’s Charity— propelling his belief in the healing power of performance.
In 2024–25, Charlie was awarded an Arts Council England grant to explore the space between clowning and therapy. His ongoing training includes work with Holly Stoppit, studies in Wilderness Therapy with eQe Outdoors, and a growing Fooling practice.
Charlie creates emotionally safe, joyful spaces through bespoke workshops and creative projects for companies, communities, and individuals.
‘Your performance brought me compassion for a side I don’t often see. It’s sad to see the mask as heavy as it is confusing. Thank you for dropping it. Also, your performance was so good it pulled me away from a great snog!’

‘It is clear that Charlie understands the therapeutic potential of clowning as a joyful and

transformative method for helping individuals connect on a profound human level with
themselves and those around them’
‘A really beautiful blend of deconstructed clowning, of the kind of silliness of clowning and the rawness of clowning that is a window into the soul, but also with some reportage/gonzo journalism, bringing in a lot of real life experience, big big thanks’
